The past oh 4 or 5 days I was working on a new design for PoemofQuotes. The old one started to look a weeeeee bit outdated. The new design is looks a bit more professional, but is it too much? Perhaps. I received a few comments earlier stating the site looks more businessy. Although that was not my intent, it does come off that way.

There are a few reasons why I thought the design overhaul was needed:
1) To update the look and feel. The site seemed very hm... 2003 or 2004ish. Not much pazzou.

2) Speed. The old design had a few clunks in it. The new design uses jQuery for the few things it does with javascript. Also, no more gradients (except in the header). The page is also much more condensed, so more information is above the fold.

3) Navigation. I felt it was fairly easy to get lost in the old design. With over 2000 pages, I imagine that became a huge problem. Now, there is something which at least resembles breadcrumbs. It has been proven that it is a much more user-friendly style.

4) I wanted to add in the T-Shirts. I'm probably a bit too proud of them. I figured others would want to buy them so... yeah. The number one selling shirt from the old site (which the shirts only showed if you had javascript turned off) is the Ringer-T with "Poe It" on it. I used the same design and put it on a new shirt over at Zazzle along with a few others. We'll see how it goes.
